What is Colon Cancer? Colon cancer is an abnormal collection of cells that grows somewhere in the colon, or large intestine. They are most commonly found at the end of the colon in what is called the sigmoid colon.

The current recommendation for a screening colonoscopy OR other colon cancer screening is starting at age 45 OR if you have a 1st degree relative (mom, dad, sibling) with colon cancer to start 10 years before the age of their diagnosis. If you have any symptoms of possible colon cancer including blood in your stool, persistent change in your bowels, abdominal bloating, unexplained weight loss, please see your doctor to discuss.
