If you’re here, you know and love Sachin. Who wouldn’t? All around great guy, fun hang out friend, dedicated father, loving husband and champion chef. Sachin is someone you want on your team. It’s inconceivable that Sachin, of all people, has been diagnosed with with sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma (or colon cancer for short).
Sachin had a colonoscopy on 6/2 to work up some GI issues he’d been having and shockingly to us all was found to have a 3.2 cm (1.2 inch) mass in his sigmoid colon on the left side of his body. He had a CT scan that day showing 2 nearby lymph nodes which were enlarged and a possible abnormality in the liver. A follow up MRI and then Ultrasound of the liver at this point initially showed that the liver abnormality was likely a hemangioma, or a collection of blood vessels but then a PET scan showed that the liver lesions were cancer after all.
As of now, we know that the plan going forward will include surgery and chemotherapy. It may also involve radiation or other procedures. The order and exact procedures aren’t decided yet but I will update you all as we know things.
Sapana and Sachin will be overwhelmed dealing with this, so please feel free to direct questions to me, Sujata (Sapana’s sister) through this blog contact form or directly if you have my phone number (which I’m happy to give out but don’t wish to publish publicly).
