Sachin here! Today I met my oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering and discussed the details of my lovely summer of chemotherapy. In summary, I will start receiving chemo next Monday via a port that will be implanted later this week. The goal is to undergo 4-6 cycles prior to having these three bad boys (heretofore known as Red, Ned, and Ted) surgically removed. More chemo to follow but will discuss this at a later time. While nervous about this, I am truly relieved to get this going after a relatively short period of time from diagnosis.
I would like to thank everyone that has reached out to me and my family during this insane June. I have barely scratched the surface of my journey but have been profoundly impacted in a variety of ways. I’d like to share a few:
1) Facing the fragility of your own life never comes at a convenient time.
2) Being a generally kind person, if you are lucky, may allow you to invoke the fiercest of support when you truly need it the most. I have an army in this battle. If you are reading this you are a part of it.
3) The most important part of this journey so far has been crashing hard to the bottom. I’m sure there will be more bottoms to hit, but climbing out feels pretty damn empowering.
4) Exercise and the laughter of my kids are the best drugs I’ve had so far. Maybe propofol too.
Peace and love.
